Japanese education is becoming more global than ever.
Hokkaido Bunkyo University, established in 1942 by Toshi and Shintaro Tsuruoka, is one of the institutions leading the way with outward-looking policies and courses.
The organization teaches students about the world – and brings it closer with more overseas students.
It specializes in practical skills with national qualifications in languages, rehabilitation, nursing, nutrition, childcare and education among many others.
In a time of digitilization (DX) and remote access, the university also puts a premium on making sure the human factor is as well integrated as possible for all the roles requiring the personal touch.
“I believe heartful care is still a skill that students should learn,” said Toshihiro Watanabe, President, Hokkaido Bunkyo University.
As part of its global plans, also to help combat the aging population and support through healthy diets and preventive rehabilitation, the university is bringing in students from across Asia and strengthening partnerships.
“We need to increase the ‘fanbase’ of Japanese society, with more students coming to the country and hopefully staying on and building their lives, contributing to the economy and society,” said Watanabe.

　日本の教育はかつてないほどグローバル化が進んでいる。
　1942年に鶴岡トシ・新太郎夫妻によって設立された北海道文教大学は、国際的な視野に立った教育方針と教育課程で時代をリードする教育機関のひとつである。
　北海道文教大学は、学生たちに世界について教え、より多くの留学生と世界を身近なものにしている。
　語学、リハビリテーション、看護、栄養、育児教育などの国家資格を持つ実践的な教育に特化している。
　デジタル化（DX）とオンラインの時代にあって、同大学は個人的なタッチを必要とするすべての役割について、人間的要素ができるだけうまく統合されていることを確認することに重きを置いている。
　北海道文教大学の渡部俊弘学長は、「接遇は今でも学生が学ぶべきスキルだと考えています」と語る。
　世界的な計画の一環として、また高齢化社会への対策として、健康的な食生活や予防的なリハビリをサポート、同大学はアジア各国から学生を招き入れ、連携を強化している。
　より多くの学生が日本に来て、できればそのまま留まり、生活を築き、経済や社会に貢献することで、日本社会の “ファン層 “を増やす必要があります」と渡部学長は語った。
