Richardson教授の著書が海外で出版されます
国際教養学科のPeter Richardson（ピーター・リチャードソン）教授が執筆に参加した書籍が、今月１４日、イギリスのRoutledge（ラウトレッジ）社から出版されます。
出版される著書は、The Routledge Handbook of Language and Religion (Routledge Handbooks in Linguistics)で、今週１４日に出版の運びとなりました。この書籍は、世界的学術出版社であるラウトレッジから、初めてとなる宗教と言語の研究に関する総合的なコレクションで、１５カ国から３５人を超える著者が執筆に参加しています。内容は、多様な文脈における宗教と信仰に関する言語学的・言説分析の幅広い研究に関するものとなっております。
Richardson教授は、Cognitive Metaphor and Religion（認知メタファーと宗教）と題する一章を担当され、内容は以下の通りです。
This chapter explores cognitive metaphor and religion, providing an introduction to the cognitive dimensions of metaphor usage in religious language. This is combined with an overview of some of the technical terms used by cognitive linguists and an examination of instances of individual believers achieving certain effects in a text or conversation by using metonymy and metaphor. Conceptual metaphor is then connected to broader cognitive aspects of language use, such as perceptual simulations and idealized cognitive models or ICMs. The chapter concludes with a case study analysis of two accounts of religious experiences, one a conversion experience and the other an initial experience of enlightenment.
